Companies, starts and bankruptcies by municipality: the map goes down to the municipality. The cards below show Belgian totals within your filters.
One nightly count per municipality: active companies, new companies, bankruptcies and the bankruptcy probability. This map goes no finer than the municipality: a postcode or street opens its municipality, and the page says so. The filed balance sheets per postcode, street and address are in Company balance sheets by location.
Companies: every night from the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises; a company or association sits at its registered office, a sole trader at its establishment. The sector is the main activity in NACE 2025; the size the average staff (FTE) in the latest filed annual accounts.
New and bankruptcies: the same twelve months as on every market page; the part the map can place is under How we count. A ratio only from 20 (new) or 50 (bankruptcies) active companies; the median bankruptcy probability only from 30 companies with a score.
A sole trader is never named, not even among the recent incorporations and bankruptcies.
The colours are quantiles: each shade covers roughly the same number of municipalities. Municipalities as of 2025; boundaries and population (1 January 2024) from Statbel, open data.
Not on the map, for want of a Belgian address we can place: active companies, count 141,297.
How we count
Every Checked market page counts the same twelve months, September 2025 to August 2026, from the same nightly count of 30 September 2026. The same question gets the same answer everywhere.
Incorporations in 12 months
