Frequently asked questions

Short, honest answers to the questions we hear most — about sources, scores and how current everything is.

What is Checked.be?

Checked is a Belgian company-intelligence platform. For every company we bundle public data — incorporation, directors, annual accounts and court publications — into one clear dossier, with a readable risk read-out on top.

Where does the data come from?

Exclusively from official Belgian sources: the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (KBO/BCE), the Belgisch Staatsblad / Moniteur belge, and the annual accounts filed with the National Bank of Belgium (NBB/BNB). We add no opinions or rumours of our own.

How current is the information?

Core KBO data is updated daily. Belgisch Staatsblad publications usually appear in a dossier within 24 hours. Annual accounts are shown shortly after they are filed with the NBB.

What does the risk score mean?

The risk score is a transparent, rule-based estimate. It combines public signals — such as an interim administrator, overdue filings or negative equity — into a single readable number. It is a decision aid, not an official verdict, and every factor is shown next to the score so you can see exactly why it is high or low.

What is the health barometer?

The health barometer is a score Checked computes itself from the filed annual accounts (profitability, solvency, liquidity and growth). It summarises a company's financial condition at a glance and is only shown when enough figures are available.

What does the snowflake represent?

The snowflake is a simple five-axis chart Checked builds from the public financial figures. Each point stands for a fundamental dimension — such as profitability, solvency and growth — so you can see at a glance where a company is strong or weak.

Is Checked reliable and official?

The underlying data comes straight from official Belgian registers and is therefore reliable. Checked itself is not a government service: we present and interpret that official data. For a legally binding extract, the source (KBO, Belgisch Staatsblad, NBB) remains authoritative.

Is Checked free?

The core is free: searching companies, viewing the public dossier and reading the risk score cost nothing. A free account unlocks extras such as a watchlist. Advanced features (extended history, exports, alert rules) sit in a paid plan.

My company is listed — can I have data removed or corrected?

Our pages mirror public registers, so corrections start at the source: change the data via the Belgian Business Counter (KBO) or the relevant court registry, and our dossier follows automatically within 24–72h. Personal data such as director names is processed on the basis of legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f GDPR). For privacy requests: privacy@checked.be.

How do I follow a company?

Create a free account and add a company to your watchlist. We then keep an eye on the dossier for you and notify you when something changes — for example a new Belgisch Staatsblad publication or a changed risk score.

How is this different from Companyweb?

Three things: price, clarity and openness. Checked is more modern and cheaper, surfaces early signals such as an interim administrator prominently, and keeps the risk score fully transparent — every factor sits next to the number, no black box.
